Asturias Gastronomy
The main local dishes are “fabada” (bean stew) and cheese (cabrales= strong blue cheese). Fish and shellfish are also important together with “embutidos” (sausages) like the famous “chorizo asturiano”.
The local drink is made of apples , Cider “sidra asturiana” which is also used very frenquently for cooking. Drink cider for the asturians is a cult , the cider is poured from a height (“escanciar”) into a wide-mouthed glass only just covering the bottom of the glass and has to be drunk immediately.
