Ponferrada Holy Week
Holy Week in Ponferrada has been declared of touristic interest in Castilla y León. It has the surprising element of the "Lambrión chupacandiles", a brother dress in robes of mourning and accompanied by children, ringing a bell in the street to announce the start of a procession.
At dawn on Good Friday, groups of brothers from the brotherhood of Jesús Nazareno (Jesus of Nazareth), called "corredores" (runners), and wearing their traditional black tunic, parade through the city streets summoning the other brothers with bugles and drums to the traditional Ponferrada procession: La Procesión del Encuentro.
