Salamanca Clerecia
The construction of this historic building began
in the seventeenth century by order of Philip III, and was directed
by Juan Gomez de Mora. It is a temple and college of the ecclesiastic
order of the Society of Jesus.
The "Clerecía" of Salamanca or the Royal College
of the Holy Spirit is Baroque with wonderful examples of churrigueresque
altarpieces inside. The church has an immense three-floored Baroque
cloister.
At present this monument is a Jesuit college, as well as housing
the papal University.
