La Rioja Monumental Cities
Logroño - in the capital of La Rioja
you can find the 15th century Cathedral of Santa Maria de la Redonda,
the Church of San Bartolomé and the Palace of Los Chapiteles,
to name just a few attractions.
Santo Domingo de la Calzada - along the road to Santiago,
it features a great Gothic Cathedral and Parador, but is best
known for its Monasterio de Santo Domingo.
San Millán de la Cogolla - two important monasteries
are found here: the 10th century Monastery of Suso and the 16th
century Monastery of Yuso. The first written words in the Spanish
language are preserved in a 10th century document kept here.
Laguardia - Splendid medieval town where walls and most
original buildings and homes are still preserved.
