Vitoria –Gasteiz was founded at the end of the XII c.It has a medieval city centre where stands out the Square of La Virgen Blanca, and historical monuments like as the cathedral of Santa María.
This city has an intense cultural life.Its wide musical tradition shows at the Victoria Jazz Festival that takes in July every year.
Concerning the gastronomy of this city , the most typical dishes are, “perretxikos” (mushrooms), scargots, the goxua(sponge cake), vegetable stew, …everything accompanied , of course , by a fantastic Rioja wine
