Guipuzcoa Information
Covering an area of 1,980 km² and with a population of over 500,000, Gipuzkoa is the smallest province in Spain. It borders on the north with the Bay of Biscay, on the south with Alava and Navarre, on the east with Navarre and Labourd, and on the west with Alava and Bizkaia.
It has a mild, oceanic climate, and therefore enjoys moderate temperatures the whole year round.
It's easy and fast to reach. By road, via the A8 (Bilbao-Irun); the A63 (Irún-Paris); and the A15 (San Sebastián-Pamplona-Zaragoza-Tarragona), which connects with the A7 to Barcelona.
By train, RENFE covers short and long-distance journeys, while EUSKO TRENBIDEAK runs to the towns and villages lying between Hendaye and Bilbao. Both companies offer connections with the French SNCF railway at the international Irun-Hendaye station.
By air, San Sebastián Airport, in Hondarribia, has national connections with Madrid and Barcelona. The choice of 4 airports within a radius of under 100 km from San Sebastián considerably increases air travel options. These are the international airports of Bilbao, Vitoria and Biarritz, and Pamplona national airport.
