Pilgrimage roads to Santo Toribio de Liébana.
The Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, home to the Lignum Crucis relic (the largest surviving piece of the Holy Cross), attracts thousands of pilgrims during the celebration of the jubilee years, many of whom arrive on foot.
For the last Holy Year in Liébana, eight different routes to access Santo Toribio were marked with trekking signposting codes, making up the Liébana Valley Trail Network.
There is one Long Trail that lead to Liébana from the Polaciones Valley or Sotres (Asturias). So pilgrims have pedestrian routes to reach Santo Toribio, all of which pass through areas of unparalled beauty and charming villages.
