Route of Delta de l ´Ebre
With an area of 320 km², the Ebro river delta is the second most important aquatic habitat and migration reserve of the western Mediterranean.
The flat landscape of the delta is a unique wonder in Catalonia. The nature reserve, covering around 7,700 ha, is divided into different areas, some easily accessible, others only with prior authorization.
Besides bird watching (for which we suggest you bring your binoculars and do it early in the morning or at the end of the day), you can also do other activities such as boat trips to the mouth of the river itself, walks, bike rides, sunbathing on the beach, or tasting the traditional cuisine of the area (rice with its Quality Guarantee, is the most important crop of the Delta), etc.
Though there is public transportation (bus
Hifesa Tel. 322 78 14), to Deltebre, a village situated in the
centre of the delta, it is recommended to have some means of transport
to move around the area, at least a bike.
