The steep narrow streets surrounding the carrer La Força housed the Jewish community of the city of Girona in medieval times.

The Jews exercised a great influence here and projected their skills and knowledge far beyond Girona limits.

The life of the "Aljama" was concentrated around the synagoge which had various different locations.
