Designed by Frank O. Gehry, the building is representative of vanguard architecture. It is one of the best settings for exhibiting masterpieces of modern and contemporary art.
Since its inauguration in 1997, the Guggenheim and the dog Puppy - a floral sculpture by Jeff Koons beside the museum- have become the most international symbol of Bilbao. Leading art-lovers of the world have lent objects of art to the Museum on a temporary basis, such as Giorgio Armani, David Salle, Chillida, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Robert Rauschenberg. The museum also offers a series of activities for visitors wishing to broaden their artistic horizons.
Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 14:30. Closed on Mondays. In July and August, the Museum is open every day from 10:00 to 20:00.
The ticket office closes half an hour before the Museum. The rooms will start to be cleared 15 minutes before the Museum closes.
