Gran Canaria Information
A continent in miniature,
with mountains, pine forests, fertile valleys, coffee & banana
plantations, vineyards, papaya, almond and avocado groves, troglodyte
caves, volcanic craters, pretty villages .. and delicious rabbit
with garlic served in sleepy mountain restaurants! The best lies
inland - so hiring a car to explore is really worthwhile.
The main resorts of Playa del Ingles, San Agustin & Maspalomas
lie just a 30-minute drive from the airport and there's lots to
do, from camel rides on the rolling sand dunes, shark fishing
and hectic nightlife, to wild west shows on the old Fistful of
Dollars film set.
Puerto Rico, further west around the coast, also has an excellent
beach, sheltered by the surrounding peaks.
