THE ENVIRONMENT OF SPAIN
The Environment Sector in Spain covers all industry and most public and private life, including garbage collection; water and waste water; land sea air and river pollution; renewable energies; olive-oil; used tyre, hospital and hazardous waste treatment and disposal; land remediation; environmental clean-up; forests, etc. It is the most rapidly expanding of all sectors, is thought to employ the most people, and probably turns over the most money. It possibly consumes the largest percentage of EU, Central and Regional Government funding, and has been a central issue for politicians, statesmen, ONGs and the public in general for some time, and is likely to continue to be so, as global warming and ever higher fossil fuel prices produce more anti-contamination regulations and alternative sources of energy (biomass, wind, solar, waste gas, energy crops, geo.energy, etc) As a sector, it is likely to become a major provider of new jobs, both skilled and unskilled.
